Newcastle United are looking to sign at least one player on loan – Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is one target – and Bruce has addressed the club’s transfer business ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League home game against Crystal Palace.

"Things change in 24 hours,” said Bruce. “In the loan market, managers, coaches, CEOs are all looking at the balance of the squad and how many injuries they’ve got, so things change very, very quickly.

"We’ll see where we are today. We hope that we can do one or two things. It’s been a very difficult market because of the financial restraints we're all under at the moment. I don’t think there’s been a big transfer yet, and I can’t see there being one today if I’m being brutally honest."

United defender DeAndre Yedlin is in Istanbul after agreeing a move to Galatasaray.

Bruce said: “Quite simply we’ve had three right-backs at the club now, and I think DeAndre’s suited to playing as a wing-back. It’s been no secret that we’ve been trying to change to a back four for a while now. I’d like to wish DeAndre the very best of luck in Turkey. He’s a great pro and a great lad.

"Sometimes you have to make decisions to let somebody out to bring somebody in. It could be a busy day for us. We’ll see.”
