The Newcastle United winger missed last night’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium with a hamstring problem. Striker Callum Wilson limped out of the game, also with a hamstring injury.

Fraser will have to withdraw from the Scotland squad for next week’s Euro 2020 play-off final against Serbia, as well as the Nations League fixtures against Slovakia and Israel, and the 26-year-old is doubtful for the November 21 Premier League home game against Chelsea, according to Steve Bruce.

“Unfortunately, he came into the treatment room on Thursday, and wasn’t happy with his hamstring,” said United’s head coach. “We then scanned it. It revealed a small tear. Obviously, he’s not going to make the internationals, and ‘ whether he’ll be available for Chelsea.”

Fraser, signed in the summer as a free agent, had set up Newcastle’s winner against Everton last weekend.
