Steve Bruce has named the teams that he believes are in a relegation scrap with Newcastle United.

Under-pressure Bruce has repeatedly talked about the “six or seven” clubs that are still “looking over their shoulders” in the Premier League.

Newcastle are in 17th place – and two points above third-bottom Fulham with two games in hand – ahead of tonight’s fixture against 16th-placed Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Bruce also believes Southampton and Burnley, in 14th and 15th place respectively with 33 points, are not yet out of it. A win tonight would close the gap on Southampton and Burnley to just two points.

“Look, it’s not just Fulham,” said United's head coach. “Brighton are there. Burnley are there. Also, Southampton are still there. SO we’re not alone. We have to accept we’re in a relegation scrap, of course. We had an awful run of 10 games in December and January. Hopefully, that’s past us.”
