Steve Bruce names two Newcastle United players who will return against Burnley

Steve Bruce will welcome back two Newcastle United players for Burnley’s visit to St James’s Park.

Jonjo Shelvey and Javier Manquillo have recovered from their respective hamstring injuries ahead of the Premier League fixture. Andy Carroll is still sidelined with a hip problem.

Head coach Bruce said: “Andy’s not going to make it, but the rest of the squad has trained. Jonjo’s trained for 10 days. It’s good to see him back. Manquillo’s back as well.”

Bruce said: “Ciaran, we’re just deciding whether he’s going to have the operation or not. He’s obviously damaged ankle ligaments badly. I think he’s been excellent. It’s disappointing for Ciaran. He’s been one of our better players. The blessing is, even with Dummy (Paul Dummett) and Ciaran out, we have four. In that area, we’re quite strong.”
