Bruce’s side, 12th in the Premier League, take on Arsenal on Sunday.

Joelinton has recovered from the knock he suffered in last week’s FA Cup win over Oxford United. Bruce said: “It was a knock. He’s come back, and it’s OK. He trains every day.”

Bruce, United’s head coach, will make a late decision on the involvement of Yoshinori Muto (hip) and Dwight Gayle (hamstring). Andy Carroll (hip) and Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring) remain sidelined.

“We’re going to assess whether it’s too early for Muto and Dwight,” said Bruce. “Andy’s not right. Thankfully, it’s not his ankle. There was a time just before Christmas when he made a few assists and started a few games. Unfortunately, he’s picked up this injury. It’s drifted into five or six weeks, when we expected it to be 10 days.”
