The winter window opens up on Wednesday, the day Newcastle are back in Premier League action against Leicester City.

And despite playing down the prospect of signing players next month in recent weeks, Bruce has revealed he has plans in place to act, if the right player becomes available.

"There are a few plates spinning,” said Bruce following his United side’s 2-1 St James’s Park loss to Everton.

“We will see. I won't act unless it will improve the team. I have to let two or three go if we want to make changes."

With a number of players already at the club outside the 25-man Premier League squad, Bruce will have to shift players on, if he has plans to add to his ranks in January.
