Steve Bruce reveals his Newcastle United targets for 2020

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has revealed his Premier League target for 2020 – and it’s not as ambitious as some might think.

While some fans may allow their minds to wander up the top flight table, Bruce says he is concentrating purely on continuing to establish Newcastle as a top flight side.

“Two years ago, they were in the Championship. It’s going okay at the moment but a hard week is coming up," he said ahead of the trip to Old Trafford tomorrow.

“I realised early on that we have to be difficult to beat and play against, and can we cause people a threat on the counter-attack. That’s what we’ve been and I think three quarters of the Premier League would be like that again. We’ve got to be realistic and know what our targets are, and our targets are to establish Newcastle as a Premier League team again.”
