Bruce was without a clutch of injured defenders at the Amex Stadium last night, and fielded Emil Krafth and Danny Rose out of position in central defence.

Krafth had to play on after suffering an ankle problem during the game, and the right-back will now be assessed ahead of Sunday’s final game of the season agaist Liverpool at St James’s Park.

“He’s got as really sore ankle,” said head coach Bruce. "He’s done well to carry on. I’ve seen it. I think he epitomised all of them today.”
