Pardew came to Newcastle as a replacement for the hugely popular Chris Hughton who had been sacked, despite guiding the team to the Championship title six months earlier.
After keeping the team in the Premier League, Pardew then guided Newcastle into Europe, being named Premier League and LMA Manager of the Year in the process.
This success is what earned Pardew his eight-year contract, however, within two and a half seasons, he had left St James’s Park as he made the switch to Selhurst Park.
There were many ups and downs during Pardew’s time in charge at Newcastle and here we have collated 14 of the most memorable moments during his four years in charge at Newcastle.
Some of these are moments you simply will never forget, some are ones you would like to forget, but all of them happened during Pardew’s reign as manager.

5. David Meyler incident
Possibly the most memorable moment of Alan Pardew’s time at Newcastle, but for all the wrong reasons. An innocuous-looking incident between Pardew and Meyler resulted in the Newcastle boss seemingly headbutting the Hull City midfielder. (Photo by Matthew Lewis/Getty Images) Photo: Matthew Lewis

6. Ben Arfa goal v Blackburn Rovers
There was very limited success in the FA Cup during Pardew’s tenure, however, this moment of magic from Ben Arfa lit up their cup run that season. (Photo by Mark Runnacles/Getty Images) Photo: Getty Images

7. Tim Krul’s Man of the Match performance
An early Loic Remy goal may have sealed the three-points at White Hart Lane that day, but everyone was talking about the performance of Tim Krul between the posts. The Dutchman made 14 saves, a Premier League record, to keep a clean-sheet. (Photo by Jamie McDonald/Getty Images) Photo: Jamie McDonald

8. Ben Arfa goal v Bolton
Which goal was better, this one or the Blackburn FA Cup goal? That’s up for debate, what isn’t up for debate is the sheer brilliance of this goal. Sensational. (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images) Photo: Michael Regan
