The Magpies have made no secret of the fact that they are looking to bolster their squad this month, but have struggled for funds and are yet to make any concrete progress in the loan market.
There’s still plenty of time for them to bring in a fresh face or two, however, and Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury looks as if he is a main target going into the final hours of the window.
Steve Bruce has confirmed his side’s interest in the player, and it would appear that the 23-year-old is open to a move to Tyneside too.
According to Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk show, Choudhury is “keen on a move to link up with Steve Bruce at Newcastle”.
If the Leicester man does arrive, it could raise further questions over Matty Longstaff’s future at St. James’ Park amid ongoing interest from the Championship
The Toon starlet has emerged as a loan target for Watford, but the Shields Gazette understands that the 20-year-old is not expected to leave his boyhood club between now and the end of the day.
Still, if Choudhury were to arrive, don’t be surprised to see speculation involving Longstaff continue right the way up to the window slamming shut later tonight.
Those are far from the only deals that could be completed in the Premier League today, however, and we’ve gathered up the most transfer that are most likely to happen between now and this evening’s 11pm deadline:

14. Marshall Munetsi to Sheffield United
It may be a long shot, but recent reports suggest that the Blades have made an enquiry for the Zimbabwean midfielder. With Chris Wilder missing out on Jesse Lingard earlier in the window, will he be able to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements? 15. Idrissa Gueye to Newcastle United
Again, another midfielder who Newcastle have been linked with as they look to strengthen. According to L'Equipe, a deal has been agreed, but whether the former Everton man is keen remains to be seen. (Photo by Maja Hitij/Getty Images) Photo: Maja Hitij

16. Dele Alli to PSG
