De Marco, of Blackstone Chambers, has been working on the club’s legal challenges to the Premier League over their stalled owners’ and directors’ test decision on the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, PCP Capital Partners and Reuben Brothers £300 million bid for the Magpies.

And the sports legal expert has piqued online interest with a tweet confirming he had a meeting with United chiefs today at the Emirates, ahead of the FA Cup tie.

It read: “Had a meeting with NUFC today at the Emirates & joining them to watch the #FACup tie v Arsenal now. First behind closed doors match I’ve attended, & first game since end of Feb ‘20. Hope it’s a good old fashioned cup tie!”

Movement is expected on Newcastle United’s arbitration case against the Premier League, of which De Marco has been instrumental, in the coming weeks. And those connected to the deal are hopeful it will reach a positive outcome in the not too distant future.

Reacting to the news, a number of fans reacted to the tweet.

@alexparsons75 – “Please don’t be put off by the football”

@JackJRaine – “Love you nick.”
