The Premier League free agents Newcastle United COULD target as Steve Bruce prepares for busy summer
The free agent market might come in very handy for Newcastle United this summer with reports that Steve Bruce will have a limited transfer budget to work with.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing takeover are cited as reasons why Bruce’s kitty could be slashed come the start of the transfer window.

17. Ryan Bertrand
A Champions League winner with Chelsea, Bertrand is reportedly attracting interest from Leicester City. Talks over a new contract have taken place but the 31-year-old’s future remains uncertain. Photo: Catherine Ivill
We’re sure Newcastle fans would love a bit of Juan Mata flair at St James’ Park for a season or two but the chances of that are extremely slim. Man Utd also hold a one-year option but activating that seems unlikely at the moment. Photo: Pool
The West Brom central defender is reportedly someone of interest to United, as claimed by the Telegraph last month. If the Baggies lose their Premier League status, they could also lose the 29-year-old for nothing. Photo: PETER POWELL
Unfinished business? Townsend could well feel that way given he quit Newcastle after just six months when the club were relegated to the Championship in 2016. He has, however, always spoken very highly of the supporters. Photo: ADAM DAVY
