The £40million record-breaking summer buy has netted just once in 16 starts and one substitute appearance – the Brazilian’s solitary strike netted at Tottenham Hotspur's London Stadium in a 1-0 win.

Most of Joelinton’s appearances have been in a central striker role, that changed at the weekend, though as manager Steve Bruce opted to play the former Hoffenheim and Rapid Vienna forward in a slightly withdrawn role behind Andy Carroll. While it may not have worked in terms of goals or shots on target - United record 0 in both of those categories – it did see a marginally improved Joelinton.

And the statistics seem to underline that fact.

Twitter statistic account The Other 14 have released a set of facts proving that despite his lack of goals, Joelinton might just be better at creating for United than people realise.

The 23-year-old big money buy ranks 18th (17) for chances created, not including set-pieces, in the Premier League outside Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Joelinton is tied with Wolves’ Adama Traore, Bournemouth duo Callum Wilson and Josh King as well as Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish is the runaway leader for chances created on 36. Next best is Wolves striker Raul Jiminez on 28 ahead of Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia, of Leicester City and Norwich City respectively, on 27.
