For seventeen Sunday afternoon minutes Newcastle United were plunged into the Premier League bottom three – only to end it three points clear.

And while the whole of Tyneside breathed a collective sigh of relief after the St James’ Park result, and again when England striker Ollie Watkins consigned the Cottagers to defeat, one of the key players in the United takeover saga also took to social media to display his emotions.

Following the final whistle at SJP, Ghodoussi tweeted: “That was a stressful 90min.”

And then again when Villa went in front against Scott Parker & Co, who are now three points behind and have played a game more, he tweeted: “Get in Villa!!! Never thought I’d say that.”

Ghodoussi, with wife Amanda Staveley, are directors at PCP Capital Partners.
