This is the change Steve Bruce is considering at Newcastle United

Bruce pledged to “try something different” against Burnley at St James’s Park on Saturday after the weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Gayle, back from a hamstring injury, came off the bench at Selhurst Park, where Bruce’s misfiring side failed to score for the third successive Premier League game. The result left the club 14th in the division.

Asked if he would consider fielding Gayle alongside Joelinton, Bruce said: “The options that you’re shouting at me are something that we’ll look at.”

Bruce could also recall Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden to the starting XI and alter the “balance” of his team. United’s head coach said: “The way we’re set up, the big signings are all on the pitch. Maybe we’ve got to change the balance. Let’s see where that takes us. Dwight’s always been a very good goalscorer.”
