This is why Ryan Fraser has been left out of Newcastle United's squad

The winger came off the bench in Newcastle United’s 7-0 win over Morecambe – and had been expected to be involved against Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, the Gazette understands that Fraser was left out of the squad, as a precaution, because of a “slightly sore groin”.

Head coach Steve Bruce didn’t want to risk Fraser, who hasn’t started a Premier League game in six months.

Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Matt Ritchie have come into Bruce’s starting XI.
