This man is the 'No.1 target' for Newcastle United's would-be owners

That’s the view of journalist Guillem Balague as the Premier League considers a proposed £300million takeover of the club.

Pochettino has remained on the payroll of Tottenham Hotspur since being sacked as manager late last year.

“I know that Pochettino has become the No.1 target for Newcastle – there’s no doubt about that,” Balague told his YouTube channel. “What would I do in his position? Perhaps, what he’s doing now, just listening. If anybody calls, let’s see what this project of Newcastle is about. Right now, everybody expects it to go through. So Saudi Arabia and the (Public Investment) Fund would be in place to make all the changes they want to do.”

Balague added that former United manager Rafa Benitez is also on the prospective owners’ shortlist along with former Juventus manager Max Allegri and Julian Nagelsmann, who is at RB Leipzig.
