The Premier League club is taking on the National League North team on July 18 at the 8,500-capacity LNER Community Stadium. United are also sending a team to Harrogate Town the same day, with head coach Steve Bruce having chosen to split his squad for the two games.

However, the attendance at York has been limited to 2,000 due to Covid-19 restrictions – and admission will be to home fans only.

The friendly comes a day before the planned end to the Government's lockdown restrictions. Newcastle are waiting on guidance from the Government and Premier League as to how many fans will be able to attend the first Premier League games next season.

Meanwhile, United have confirmed a pre-season friendly against Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium on Friday, July 23 (7pm kick-off).
