Lazaro, signed on loan from Inter Milan last month, made his full Premier League debut in last Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.

The defender, fielded as a right wing-back, impressed in the first 45 minutes as Newcastle took the game to their hosts. However, it was a different story after the break, and Lazaro and his team-mates had a challenging second half as Arsenal scored four goals.

“It was a bad second half for us, and I hope that we can learn from,” said the Austria international. “After a defeat like that, all you want to do is get out on the pitch and play the next game and show a reaction.”

Now settled at United, Lazaro wants to help the team draw a line under that result.

Asked about his move to England, the 23-year-old said: “It’s a lot different, but I’m enjoying it a lot. The lads are great, the team has a good atmosphere.

“We like to work hard. I’m pretty integrated. It’s a lot of fun. Of course, I want to win and play a lot.”

Newcastle, 13th in the Premier League, take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow.

“The first half of the season was really good from Newcastle if you look at the points,” said Lazaro, who needs to play games ahead of Euro 2020. “And we definitely have the chance to make it a good season for Newcastle.”
