The ‘Theatre of Dreams’ has not been a happy hunting ground for the Magpies in the Premier League era, having won there just once since the league’s inception.
That win came almost nine years ago when a single Yohan Cabaye strike was enough to secure Alan Pardew’s side all three-points against David Moyes’ side.
Since that win, Newcastle have conceded 21 goals in just seven visits to Old Trafford, a run that even includes a goalless draw at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.
Their current Premier League record at Old Trafford reads: Played: 27, won: 1, drawn: 8, lost: 18, scored: 21, conceded: 63.

After leaving Newcastle to join Manchester United in January 1995, Cole won a plethora of trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson before moving around the country as his career wound down. Despite Gayle’s Old Trafford opener in November 2017, Newcastle still ended up on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline. Gayle had a loan spell at West Brom during the 2018/19 season but remained with the Magpies until he joined Stoke City on a free transfer this summer. The 32-year-old is yet to score for the Potters. 15. Yoshinori Muto
When Muto put Rafa Benitez’s side 2-0 ahead, it looked like the Old Trafford curse may be lifted again - but a late fightback from the hosts meant they would leave pointless yet again. Muto’s disappointing time at Newcastle came to an end in August 2021 when he joined Vissel Kobe in his native Japan. Muto can count former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta as one of his teammates. 16. Matty Longstaff
Longstaff remarkably scored two goals in as many appearances against the Red Devils in late 2019 but deja vu struck as Newcastle went down 4-1 on Boxing Day. His career at Newcastle just hasn’t sparked like many believed it would do with Longstaff currently on-loan at Colchester United in League Two having spent the second half of last season at Mansfield Town in the same division.
