5. Yohan Cabaye
A move to PSG seemed to be a dream move for Cabaye, however, he lasted just a season-and-a-half in France before finding himself back in the Premier League with Crystal Palace. Moves to Al Nasr in the UAE and a stint at Saint-Etienne followed before he announced his retirement in February 2021. Photo: Richard Sellers

6. Aleksandar Mitrovic
After impressing on loan at Fulham, Mitrovic’s permanent transfer to Craven Cottage was confirmed in July 2018. Promotions and relegations have followed since then but this season the Serbian forward is in tremendous form, scoring 20 times in just 17 Championship games so far this campaign. Photo: Jan Kruger

7. Jonathan Woodgate
Injury problems severely hampered Woodgate’s career and hampered his spell at Real Madrid who bought the England international for £13m. Spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Stoke City followed before his retirement. Coaching was Woodgate’s next role as he took up the Middlesbrough job in summer 2019 before a short spell as Bournemouth manager at the end of last season. Photo: Stu Forster

8. Andros Townsend
The winger spent just six months on Tyneside and despite some electrifying form, couldn’t prevent Newcastle’s slide into the Championship. Five successful years at Crystal Palace followed before Townsend reunited with former boss Rafa Benitez at Everton this summer. Photo: Stu Forster
