A hat-trick from Kevin Nolan and brace from Shola Ameobi give Magpies fans an unforgettable day and haunt their local neighbours on Halloween – managed by current boss Steve Bruce. Click and scroll through the pages to see what those Toon players are up to now:
5. Joey Barton
The tough-tackling midfielder is into his second season as manager of League One side Fleetwood Town. All is going well for Barton this term with the Cod Army occupying a play-off place - a four-point lead over Sunderland. Photo: Michael Regan
6. Kevin Nolan
The derby hat-trick hero stepped into management with Leyton Orient before guiding Notts County to the League Two play-offs in 2018. Nolan was harshly sacked by the Magpies a few months later and has been out of management since. He was reportedly in the running for the Leyton Orient job. Photo: Michael Regan
7. Jonas Gutierrez
The love between Newcastle fans and Gutierrez runs very deep after he was diagnosed with cancer before recovering whilst on Tyneside. The 36-year-old has stayed in his native Argentina following his Toon release in 2015 and now plays for Banfield. Photo: Stu Forster
8. Andy Carroll
Carroll, of course, re-joined his boyhood this summer - eight years after his £35million exit to Liverpool. The 30-year-old is a big figure in the United dressing room and was pushing for his first start before picking up a slight groin injury mid-October. Photo: Stu Forster
