This is why 'complicated' Newcastle United takeover could collapse
A proposed Newcastle United takeover by a Saudi Arabian-led group is “complicated” – and could collapse.
That’s according to a BBC Sport report, which has claimed that discussions over a £340million deal are “advanced”.
The consortium is being led by Amanda Staveley, who failed with a takeover two years ago.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley said last summer that he could own the club “forever”.
And the BBC quote a source “familiar with the discussions” as saying: “Ashley doesn’t need to sell, and he’s unpredictable.”
