The Danish youngster returned to Tyneside last week after an unsuccessful spell at Brunton Park, which failed to yield a single competitive goal – with Sorensen’s only strike coming in a reserve game against Morecambe.

And the Carlisle manager has now revealed that Newcastle made the decision to cut short the loan to try and get the striker ‘back on board’ after some prolific form in Premier League 2 in recent years.

“The club has released a statement and everybody’s clear why that was,” said Beech.

“He’s been unfortunately unsuccessful in his two loans, so his club that own his contract are supporting him to get him back on board, try and reboot him and get him going.

“It’s their investment and we’re comfortable with that.”
