Salomon Rondon is still thinking about Newcastle United – almost a year after he played his last game for the club.

Rondon scored the 12th and final goal of his season-long loan at St James’s Park in a 4-0 win over Fulham on May 12 last year.

And the striker, with Rafa Benitez at Chinese club Dalian Yifang, has been reminiscing about his final weeks on Tyneside.

The 30-year-old tweeted a clip of his goals against Fulham and Liverpool and said: “Good morning from the jungle. The buzz at St James's Park in our last battle at home. The big final-day game and being named Player of the Season. What great @NUFC memories this month brings back!”

Rondon was eventually signed on loan from West Bromwich Albion in a swap deal which saw Dwight Gayle spend a season at The Hawthorns after the club’s hierarchy opted against buying him outright by activating a £16.5million release clause.
