Northern League: Boldon CA challenged to extend strong run of form

Boldon CA are hoping to extend their impressive start to the new Northern League season this weekend.

Boldon CA have been challenged to extend their strong start to an exciting season by continuing to make the most of their home fixtures.

Chris Spence and Keaton Trott’s side have claimed an impressive 19 points from a possible 21 during the first month of the campaign after a Callum Larmouth brace and a Kevin Humble strike helped them to a 3-0 home win against Park View in midweek. That came just days after Larmouth and Charlie Whitfield netted in a shock 2-1 victory in an FA Vase first qualifying round tie against North West Counties League Premier Division side Longridge Town.

A third home game in seven days comes on Saturday when Boldon return to Northern League Division Two action with a Villa clash with an Alnwick Town side that are sitting in fifth place in the table after securing 13 points from their opening seven games of the season.

Speaking ahead of that game, Boldon joint-manager Spence stressed the importance of his side’s home form throughout the season - but warned his players they will face ‘another tough game’ as their visitors look to continue their own impressive start to the campaign.

He told The Gazette: “I touched on it at the start of the season — our home form will be important. They’ve [Alnwick] got a new manager and have signed a few bodies, so we’ll do our homework on them and set up accordingly. It’ll be another tough game and one we’ll have to be ready for.”
