Northern League: Sunderland West End 'wary' of Boldon CA threat
Boldon CA and Jarrow both face big tests in Northern League Division Two this weekend.
Sunderland West End are wary of the threat posed by a new look Boldon CA - according to player-manager Joe Walton.
The recent appointments of Keaton Trott and Ben Whitfield to the club’s management team have heralded the arrival of a whole host of new signings over the last month. That is yet to transform into an upturn in fortunes in results as Boldon head into Saturday’s home game with West End awaiting their first win since a 3-2 victory at Prudhoe YC on the first midweek of September.

However, Walton believes the air of the unknown about a much-changed Boldon means his players will have to be cautious when the two sides meet at the Villa.
He told The Gazette: “Sometimes it’s worse to face a side with new managers and players because it can take time to get your ideas across and we found that ourselves when we took over.
“We lost three at the start of the season but then we went on an unbeaten run. You don’t know what impact the players they are bringing in will have and that means you just have to be wary of any side that have new managers because you don’t know what you are going to get from them.”
Jarrow will make a long awaited return to action when they visit Newcastle University.
Kennie Malia’s men have been out of action since a 3-1 defeat against Park View three weeks ago and will hope to return to winning ways to boost their play-off bid. Ollie Barnett will be back in contention for Jarrow after serving a one-match suspension.
