South Shields promoted as Turner grabs the glory
The sixth-top hosts made life tough for Jon King’s Mariners, but the breakthrough finally came in the 63rd minute, with Michael Turner grabbing the glory.
Robert Briggs sent over a corner from the right and it was met by a bullet header from Turner, which flew into the bottom corner of the Easington net.

Hide AdMartyn Coleman gave Easington plenty of problems and was denied several times, while home defender Redman almost conceded an own goal as Shields piled the pressure on.
The Mariners’ success was their 30th in the league, with the step-up to Division One clinched with five games to spare.
