Aiden McGeady told he can leave Sunderland in January after training ground incident
Aiden McGeady is set to miss Sunderland's clash with Blackpool this weekend.
The Echo understands that the 33-year-old is not likely to be included in the matchday squad after an incident at the Academy of Light this week.
The exact nature of the incident is yet to emerge.
It is understood he has been told he can leave the club in January.
Phil Parkinson will hold his pre-match press conference at the Academy of Light this afternoon.
McGeady was an unused substitute at Gillingham last weekend as Sunderland fell to their latest defeat of a flatlining season.
Parkinson has won just two of his twelve games in charge since replacing Jack Ross.
McGeady signed a contract extension last season after a stellar campaign, keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
His pre-season was significantly affected by injury but he is nevertheless the club's top scorer this term with six goals in all competitions.
