Marc McNulty on verge of Sunderland exit with Hibernian likely destination for striker
Jack Ross has been chasing the Reading loanee striker during January and looks to have finally got his man, with reports in the Edinburgh Evening News that Phil Parkinson has agreed to end his loan with Sunderland lining up attacking reinforcements of their own.
Sunderland are set for a busy deadline day with Antoine Semenyo expected to arrive on loan from Bristol City.
The Edinburgh Evening News report: “Marc McNulty will finalise his return to Hibernian today after Sunderland agreed to cancel his loan deal.
“The Black Cats, who had tied up the Scotland international on a season-long switch from parent club Reading in the summer, had been refusing to free him up despite the fact he has made only seven starts this term.
“But, frustrated by that paucity of game time, and aware of Hibs’ interest, the player’s representatives applied pressure on the current Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson.
“Late last night, with a couple of forward options lined up to move to the Stadium of Light, he finally relented and, with terms already agreed between Reading, Hibs and McNulty, the local lad is now set to reunite with his former boss, Jack Ross, in Leith, until the end of the current campaign.”
The deadline is 11pm tonight for clubs in the Premier League and EFL, but clubs in Scotland have until midnight to conclude their business.
