Sunderland are targeting a new left-back as cover for Denver Hume, while another attacking midfielder would also be on Phil Parkinson’s ideal transfer wish list.
One name linked is ex-Middlesbrough winger Jones, who is reported to be available this month report the Northern Echo, though it would likely depend on moving on Aiden McGeady first.
Sunderland have so far signed Kyle Lafferty, Bailey Wright and Josh Scowen.
