90min report that the teenage defender – who has shone for the Black Cats’ under-18 side this term – is set to finalise personal terms with the Red Devils before completing a switch to Old Trafford.

A host of clubs have been credited with an interest in left-back Pye, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea among those who are believed to have monitored the youngster.

But he is set to snub interest from elsewhere and commit his future to Manchester United – with 90min claiming Pye is already in the North West to discuss personal terms.

The report claims that clubs were circling Pye in the summer, but were forced to wait until October – when he turned 16, and therefore could be offered a professional contract – to make their move.
