The youngster joined the Black Cats on a trial basis in November, and featured for Elliott Dickman’s under-23 side in games against Spennymoor Town and Stoke City U23s.

But Mukena has now departed the Stadium of Light, with the club set to pursue alternative targets as they look to bolster their second string squad during the January window.

Mukena, who has also played for Tottenham Hotspur during his career, has now teamed-up with Isthmian League South Central Division side Bracknell Town.
