William Storey claims to have launched second, improved bid for Sunderland AFC

William Storey claims to have launched a second bid for Sunderland AFC – which he says is ‘by far the biggest offer’ received by the club’s current owners.

Stewart Donald looks set to sell a majority stake in the club to a consortium including Juan Sartori and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, which would see the duo take a shareholding of 79 per cent in the Black Cats.

And while that deal is understood to be close to completion – with reports on Saturday evening suggesting that Louis-Dreyfus is now going through routine EFL checks – Storey claims to have lodged a second bid for the club.

Posting on Twitter, he said: “I can confirm that my London lawyers submitted a second formal legal bid to purchase Sunderland AFC on the 19th November. It is by far the biggest offer received by Madrox partners limited & I expect it to be accepted.”

But those close to the deal suggest it is still Sartori and Louis-Dreyfus in pole position.
