That’s according to Football Insider.

The website states the midfielder has been offered a new contract by the Scottish Premiership outfit.

However, Blackburn Rovers are also reportedly interested in a deal for the Scotland youth international.

The Echo understands that some League Two clubs are monitoring Patterson’s situation following his impressive end to the campaign.

That means a loan move could be on the cards for the young goalkeeper, who impressed as Sunderland U23s reached the Premier League 2 play-off final.

Much, though, will likely depend on if Sunderland do indeed sign Jacob Carney.

His expected arrival from Manchester United could well help the decision-making process surrounding Patterson.

That’s because Carney is likely to form part of Elliott Dickman’s youth team

That will mean there is no longer a reliance on Patterson to play in Premier League 2 games, which would allow him to depart on loan.
