Sunderland youngster relishing Hebburn Town FC loan
Sunderland prospect Jaydon Jones has joined National League North club Hebburn Town on loan.
Sunderland youngster Jaydon Jones has described Hebburn Town FC as ‘the perfect place’ to take the next step in his development after he joined the National League North club on a short-term loan.
The Black Cats youngster made his debut as a substitute in Saturday’s defeat against Oxford City as Moore’s men were beaten in a league game on their home patch for the first time in over a year. He will now hope to push for a start in Saturday’s rearranged home game with Scarborough Athletic and despite last weekend’s disappointment, the 19-year-old midfielder believes the National League North can provide him with an ideal opportunity to enhance his development.

He told The Gazette: “I’m delighted to come in here. Some bigger clubs can turn their noses up at sending young players on loan to National League and National League North clubs but it’s where you can develop very quickly. It’s tough, it’s physical but the standard is also high and that can only help a young player develop quicker. I think it’s the perfect place for where I am at in terms of my development. There’s some big games coming and the whole point of me being here is to test me physically against quality teams.”
Hebburn’s progress up the non-league pyramid has caught many by surprise - but after spending his first week with his new team-mates and making his National League North debut, Jones believes Hebburn are where they deserve to be this season.
He said: “The lads have been very welcoming and I knew quite a few of them before I came in so that made is easier to settle in. I spoke to Isaac and he told me how everyone is here. It’s quite a unique club, the way it’s ran, and he gave me an insight and that just made me want to come here even more. A lot of people have been surprised by the club’s progress - but after training with the lads I can see why they deserve to be where there are and you can see the performances this season show why they are here.”
