Kubix Festival headliners Levellers announce North East tour
They’re headlining Sunderland’s Kubix Festival this summer – now Levellers have announced they’ll be returning to the region on tour.
Levellers are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal album Levelling The Land with a UK tour which starts with a North East date.
The folk-punk legends will play the now-classic record in full at the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
It’s also been announced that their very special guests at the show – their first at the City Hall since 1997 - will be local heroes Holy Moly & The Crackers, whose feelgood folk-rock will complement the Levellers' indie anthems.
Tickets, priced £28.50 (plus booking fees), are on sale now from www.gigbox.co.uk, www.seetickets.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
Frontman Mark Chadwick said: “We are really looking forward to playing Newcastle again for the first time in five years and celebrating 30 years of Levelling The Land at The City Hall. Stay safe and see you all soon.”
It promises to be an explosive start to a 17-date UK tour which includes some shows postponed from 2020, plus a batch of new gigs (including Newcastle). Levellers reached the peak of their popularity in 1994, when an estimated 300,000 people saw their headline set at Glastonbury Festival - still its biggest-ever crowd.
As well as playing Levelling The Land in full for its 30th anniversary, Levellers will perform other hits, plus songs from their latest album, Peace.
Forced off the road by the pandemic, they're due to return to full-band shows with a headline appearance at Kubix Festival in Sunderland on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
