Sam Fender postpones all live shows until 2021 but promises new music is on the way

North East singer-songwriter Sam Fender has announced that he is postponing all his live shows until next year due to the Covid-19 pandemic – but promises there will be new music in time for them.

The North Shields-born star was set to play his biggest homecoming show yet at the Newcastle Utilita Arena on September 21.

Now he has revealed that all his live shows taking place this year will be postponed until 2021 – with a new date for Newcastle of May 1.

Despite the bad news of postponing his shows, in a statement released via his social media accounts, the star announced that there is new music on the way.

He said: “What the **** happened to 2020?! With the current state that the UK is in, we're pushing all shows back until next year. It sucks, but it's unavoidable.

“The silver lining is that by the time these shows come around, there will be loads of new music to play you.

“And you can only imagine the energy as it will be 13-months since our last show.

“I haven't gone this long without playing a show since I was 16, we can't wait to get back out there and start sharing music again.”

All tickets for the original dates remain valid and refunds are in place for those who can’t make it.
