Family swimming sessions for SEND children become permanent fixture in Jarrow
The free family swimming sessions for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities will be held every Saturday afternoon at Jarrow Community Pool, with floats, swimming aids, and toys available.
Exclusive swimming for children and young people with SEND and their families will be permanently held in South Tyneside after a successful pilot.
The South Tyneside Growing Healthy 0-19 team announced via social media the family swimming sessions for children/young people with SEND and their families will become a permanent fixture at Jarrow Community Pool on Saturday afternoons between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
Organisers have noted that the sessions are not swimming lessons and there will not be staff in the pool to support your child.
The sessions are free for the whole family, with any siblings welcome.

But there must be at least one child or young person under the age of 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities attending.
The sessions require an adult to be in the pool with their child/young person at all times and there will be floats, swimming aids, and toys available.
There is free parking onsite but attendees will need a £1 coin for the lockers.
