7. Youth Arts Exhibition, Arts Centre Washington, February 3 - March 14
This year's Youth Arts Exhibition 2020: Bright Lights opens at Arts Centre Washington on Monday, February 3 and will be on display until Saturday, March 14. 8. 2040 screening, Empire Cinema, Sunderland, January 30
As part of the new Filmhouse Sunderland independent film festival, 2040 will be screened at Empire Cinema at 6.30pm on January 30. Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we embraced the best solutions available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. Structured as a visual letter to his 4-year-old daughter, Damon blends traditional documentary with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board of how these solutions could regenerate the world for future generations.
