Free coaching sessions on offer at South Shields Tennis Club open day

Tennis watchers and others looking for a new activity to try can have a go at the game at a special open day in South Shields.

South Shields Tennis Club in Dean Road is offering free coaching sessions at an open day on Sunday, June 13.

There will also be exclusive membership and coaching offers for those signing up on the day.

People are invited to go along to the club between 10am to 2pm and have a knock about, and meet some of the coaches and other members.

Most Popular

    No tennis experience necessary and all ages are welcome but the club is asking people to book time slots to make sure it does not get overcrowded.

    The club will have four coaches there all day to help everyone. Members will be on site to talk to new players about the club.

    It comes as tennis season warms up, with the French open under way and Wimbledon due to start later this month after being cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020.

    Formerly Westoe Tennis Club, South Shields Tennis Club fields teams in the Durham and Northumberland league, with friendly internal club tournaments for members, for doubles and singles.

    It has year-round tennis facilities with three all-weather courts, a clubhouse, licensed bar, changing facilities and showers.
