5. Plays in the Parks, Mowbray Park, Sundelrand
As part of the Plays in the Parks series, The Tin Soldier will be staged in Mowbray Park, Sunderland from Saturday to Sunday. Performances are at 11:30 am and 2:30pm daily at Mowbray Park. Meet at the Museum and Winter Gardens Gate. The Plays in the Parks are promenade performances; therefore, audiences will be expected to move around the park to see the show. 6. Kynren, until September 14
Outdoor theatre show Kynren is running at Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland until September 14. Presented by Eleven Arches on a seven-and-a-half acre stage, 1,000 cast and crew immerse you in the telling of a 2,000-year tale; the history of England. Kynren brings to ground-shaking life the story of invasions, royal splendour, wars, heroic sacrifice, daily life and seismic change. 7. The Customs House, South Shields.
The Customs House Summer School in South Shields will be staging High School Musical from Friday, August 9 to Sunday, August 11. Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on the stage.Troy Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. 8. Beamish Model Railway
Beamish Model Railway A model railway operating day will take place at Beamish on Saturday, August 10. The Beamish Model Railway operates within the grounds of the museum – starting at the Regional Resource Centre. Small charge applies. The volunteers at the railway operate the trains from 1pm until 4pm. Find out when the trains are running by checking their Facebook page.
