Hebburn primary school is handed 'outstanding' rating by education inspectors
A primary school has been ranked 'outstanding' by education inspectors, who said pupils enjoyed their lessons and felt "loved and valued".
A primary school in Hebburn has received a glowing report from inspectors for its “supportive and joyful community” and “exemplary” staff.

St Aloysius Catholic Junior School, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, was recently inspected by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) and rated ‘outstanding’.
The CSI, which judges Catholic schools on overall effectiveness, Catholic life and mission, religious education and collective worship, found that pupils at the school have a “clear understanding of the fact that they are known, valued and loved as individuals”.
CSI lead inspector Claire Garbutt said in her report: “There is a lived sense of community at St Aloysius where there is strength in relationships, a deep respect and dignity for each other and a genuine culture of welcome.
“There is a flourishing partnership between home, school and parish which is deeply appreciated by all. Outcomes in religious education for pupils are strong, underpinned by effective teaching rooted in clear subject knowledge with a focus on challenge and depth of learning.
“Scripture is used authentically and the ways in which pupils can articulate how this impacts their actions and daily lives is well embedded and an integral part of learning.”
Pupils actively contribute to leadership opportunities such as RE Ambassadors and Mini Vinnies and “talk passionately” about their contribution to the school, parish and wider community.
The report continued: “Everyone is valued, without exception, in a supportive and joyful community.
“Staff are deeply committed to all that the school offers and see themselves as an integral part of its outward mission. It is clear that staff feel the distinctive nature of Catholicity at St Aloysius and that the ethos of the school is part of their everyday life.
"Therefore, staff are exemplary role models who provide the highest level of care for all pupils and as a result, St Aloysius is a highly inclusive school.”
Head teacher Anna Tumelty said: “Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do, and their enthusiasm, kindness, and commitment to learning shine through in every aspect of school life. We are incredibly proud of them.
“This achievement also recognises the dedication and hard work of our staff, who consistently go above and beyond to provide an exceptional education and a nurturing environment for every child.
The school, which also has an infant school and nursery on the same site, was inspected by the CSI in March on behalf of the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle.
