Queues at Burger King in South Shields as the restaurant reopens but with limited menu

Images captured by our photographer Stu Norton show queues of traffic beginning to build at Burger King on Towers Place as it becomes one of the first restaurants in the country to reopen.
The restaurant in South Shields is one of only 33 to reopen on Monday, June 1 for delivery and drive-thru only.
More branches are expected to open later in the month.

Hide AdThe chain has said the safety for both staff and customers is their number one priority, with a number of procedures put in place to protect the health of all.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) has been supplied for staff and delivery options will remain contactless to ensure social distancing measures are being followed.
Those thinking of heading to Burger King should be warned that a limited menu is currently in place to make things easier for staff during the reopening.
The limited menu includes: The Whopper, Chicken Royale, the bacon double XL sandwich, sides drinks and kids’ meals.

Hide AdMarketing Director at Burger King UK, Katie Evans said: “We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants this week and slowly but surely get back to “normal”, ensuring all safety measures are in place.”
Bosses are hoping to reopen around 350 restaurants by the end of June.
