“Life is now complete”: Readers call for Dicksons home delivery to go nationwide as butcher announces plans for new app
Gazette readers have had their say as South Shields butcher Dicksons announce plans for a new home-delivery app.
Residents in South Shields will be able to get their favourite meat products - including the famous Saveloy dip and ham and pease pudding sandwich - delivered straight to their front door.
The new app will initially be available for customers in South Shields on Sunday only, from 9am-3pm, but bosses aim to roll out home delivery options covering seven days a week by spring 2020 depending on customer demand.
It’s safe to say the news went down well with Gazette readers, who were delighted to hear they can now enjoy their Saveloy dip from the comfort of their own home.
But fans from beyond South Tyneside want a slice of the action too.
There were comments from readers up and down the UK – from as far as Fife, Glasgow, Hampshire and Kent - all asking if they could get in on the home delivery.
Here’s what you said:
Lorraine Mills: “Do they deliver to Scotland? I’m a South Shields girl who lives in Fife now and boy do I miss my Saveloy dips! It’s the first thing I do when I visit my relatives.”
Gillian Whalen: “Aw man. I miss my Saveloy dips. I wonder how much it would cost to deliver to Glasgow.”
Angela Blackburn: “My sister and her family love them and live in Hampshire, reading all these posts Dicksons should start a postal delivery of vacuum packed produce, at the right price would go down a storm if advertised on here. I take parcels of Dicksons Saveloys down every trip.”

Janet Hunter: “Love a savoury dip from Dickson’s...it’s the left over cuts from their cooked meats mixed with their stuffing...a bit of pease pudding..bun dipped in the Saveloy juice..mustard and eat..Divine.”
