Despite the covid-19 pandemic, Boldon CA reached the finals of a charity league tournament, The Alan Hood cup and has its sights set on promotion to Division Two, Northern League, next season.

Dave Crumbie, Boldon CA manager, said: “As a small, grassroots football club, we rely heavily on the support of the local community.

“To have the backing of HLA Services for the third year is a huge financial burden off our shoulders and means a lot to the club, the committee and the local community who support us.”

He added: “We train once a week as we all work full-time and it has been fantastic to get back together following the lifting of restrictions. You can see the boost the sport provides, not just physically but mentally, as we enjoy the camaraderie and friendship that has been built up over the years.”

HLA Services employs over 100 staff and works across numerous sectors including construction, manufacturing, retail, education and hospitality and is one of the North East’s leading air conditioning, climate change and temperature control specialists.

Neil Henry, director at HLA Services, said: “This is our third year of sponsorship and, in many ways, it feels like the most important.

"Grassroots sport is such a big thing in the North East, providing young people with very positive outlets to build confidence, express themselves as individuals and to understand the importance of team work, all great attributes for later life.

“We all know that it has been a very difficult financial year for so many local initiatives and for that reason it is more important to provide them with strong backing.

"We wish Boldon CA the best of luck in the upcoming season, as they look to step up to the next division.”
