The plan is expected to include both the initial relaxation of measures and the restrictions that could be eased in the coming months, and will be across the whole of the country, instead returning to the previous regional tiered system.

It has already been announced that schools in England will reopen for all pupils on 8 March, with outdoor after-school sports clubs and activities also able to restart from this date.

In regards to socialising, people will be able to socialise outside with one friend or relative from another household from 8 March. Current restrictions limit meet-ups to exercise only, but from 8 March two people will be able to meet up and sit together in a park for a coffee, drink or picnic.

From 29 March, larger groups of six people or two households will be able to meet outside, including in private gardens, from 29 March.

However, the “rule of six” limits and social distancing rules are likely to remain in place throughout summer.

Tennis courts, golf courses and other outdoor sport facilities will also be able to reopen from 29 March, alongside organised sport for adults and children, such as grassroots football.

The Prime Minister is also expected to announce when clothing stores, hair and beauty services, pubs, bars and restaurants could reopen.
