Here’s some of the best light trails, as well as other magical Christmas events, in the region which are set to get you in the festive spirit.
9. Santa On The Roof, Fenwick, Newcastle
Santa On The Roof will return to Fenwick this Christmas as the Newcastle department store unveils its festive programme for 2022.
The popular event – a chance for families to meet the big man himself on the Fenwick rooftop – takes place from 7 November until 24 December 2022.
Tickets for Santa’s Breakfast Club, Santa’s Supper Club, Santa’s Cinema, and new event this year, Afternoon Tea with Santa are all available now.
This year, all restaurant experiences do not include a visit to Santa on the Roof as part of the experience and must be purchased separately. Photo: Fenwick
10. Christmas at Beamish, County Durham
Come along for Christmas at Beamish daytimes from 26th November to 24th December and enjoy truly traditional celebrations at the museum.
From Georgian times right the way through to the 1950s, hop aboard one of Beamish’s traditional trams or buses and be immersed in Christmas through time. Start your own special family traditions and tick off important Christmas to-dos before the big day.
Father Christmas will be in his cosy Grotto at Rowley Station Goods Yard every day from 26th November to 24th December. Grotto tickets need to be booked online in advance, and will not be available to buy at the museum. Grotto slot tickets cost £6 per child (0 – 16 years). Every child who visits Father Christmas’ Grotto will need a Grotto ticket, accompanying adults do not require a Grotto ticket. All visitors aged 5 and over will need an Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership in order to visit the Grotto. Photo: submitted
