As part of the phased reopening of the country, from April 12 pubs and restaurants have been able to open their outdoor spaces for groups of six or two households mixing.
It’s a sigh of relief for many South Tyneside businesses who can finally welcome customers once more. Here’s some of the borough’s beer gardens that are open now, along with booking details where applicable.

1. The Dockyard

2. The Lakeside Inn, Jarrow

3. The Sanddancer
This seafront institution created a new outdoor extension for reopening, with breakfasts on the terrace available from 9am. 4. One More Than Two Brew
This micro brewery and tap room in Portberry Street offers a great range of street food and craft beers. It's a mixture of bookings and walk-ups, depending on availability on the day. Check its social media pages. It's child friendly and dog friendly. Photo: JPI Media
