Appeal launched after dog found in 'very thin' condition in Whiteleas

The black and white male dog, was found near to the shops on Whiteleas Way on Tuesday March 20 and handed to the dog warden.

The animal, thought to be a Staffy/Border collie cross, was described by RSPCA inspectors as “very thin” and suffering from the skin condition demodectic mange.

It is thought the dog may have been neglected for some time.

RSPCA Inspectors are now keen to find the owner of the dog.

RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector (DCI) Helen Nedley said: “This poor dog’s spine, hips and ribs are all easily visible.

“He has patches of fur loss and thinning fur all over his body, pink and scabby skin and the inside of his ears are thickened with scabs inside.

“It has taken him some time to get into such a poor and suffering state.”

“He wasn’t wearing a collar and ID tag and wasn’t microchipped, as is required by law.

“He is very distinctive looking, almost half of his face being black and half white, and I’m hoping that someone will recognise him and know who his owner is and get in touch.”
